Suggest a suitable X-mass gift for old aged parents.
60Handmade is best
Typically, there is no need to spend much money or to give a gift that is elaborate in cost or construction. Keeping it simple is best. Keeping it "heart-felt" is lasting with the idea of lasting not being in length but in the impact it will have in its receipt.
Any gift is best when it is handmade. It demonstrates "it is the thought that counts" and this will always outshine a new ipod or scooter (just kidding re the scooter).
Some like to look foward and some like to look back. In either case the level of impact - the lasting of it, will be in direct relation to the number of photos. Not because of the actual number but for the number of memories multiple photos deliver. And it really does not matter what the photos are of so long as they are personal. Growing up? School days? Children? Grandchildren! Friends? Relatives? It really does not matter.
Before you can give the photo oriented gift you need the photos.
It is highly recommended that you take the time to have the photos scanned and even cleaned up if needed. Prior to the digital camera photo older photos began to loose their quality (especially if color) as soon as they were taken. Also, most photos are originals so making a copy - a scan, you can keep the original (or the copy) protected and safe elsewhere in case something goes wrong in the construction or you want the photo for future reasons.
Now for the delivery.
Scrapbooking is a hot industry to be sure. And if you are creative it is highly recommended that you make the effort to do it yourself ... it will show. But if you feel that your creativity is lacking you can send your photos (digital is best) to a service like snapfish or to a local service (which will cost more) where you will have plenty of options: albums, coffee mugs, key chains, and even xmas tree ornaments that are digital displays.
And do not overlook the fun in making this gift a family or group event. The karma will go along ways in extending not only the life of the givee but yours as well.

I have been buying olive trees and sending as gifts to several people who think they are wonderful because of what they represent.
